Dr Garefis will present the results of his recent research, concerning dental cavities and oral health. Dental cavities can create serious dental and health problems, that quite often result in death.The research indicates that dental cavities can be prevented, by maintaining a constant low level of fluoride in the oral cavity.
Worldwide, 60–90% of school children and nearly 100% of adults have dental cavities. As a result, severe periodontal disease is developed in 15–20% of middle-aged (35-44 y.o.) adults. About 0.3% of them eventually die, because of periodontal disease implications. The disease levels are higher among poor and disadvantaged population groups.
These problems can be avoided, with non expensive and easy to follow prevention methods. The research shows, that the use of fluoride in mouth cleaning is the most suitable solution, for all population groups.
About Dr Garefis and Garefis Dental Clinic
Dr Garefis N. Paris is a dentist/dental surgeon. He graduated from the Aristotelion University of Thessaloniki in 1960, attaining his Bachelor in Dental Surgery. He continued his postgraduate studies at UCLA School of Dentistry (USA), where he completed the General Dentistry Program. From that time till 1986, he stayed in the USA where he worked in various well known hospitals. At 1986, he returned to Greece where he founded his own dental clinic. Dr Garefis is worldwide recognized for his pioneering research in surgical dentistry and for his work on the development of the Laminated Porcelain Veneers. He is a senior member of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry (AAID).
Garefis Dental Clinic was founded in 1986 by Dr Garefis.The clinic is based on Philothei, Athens, Attica. It is a medium sized dental clinic and its staff consists of licensed dentists, dental assistants, hygienists, and an oral surgeon. It covers all the range of dentistry services, from tooth cleaning to prosthetic implants. Its mission is to provide medical care of excellent quality and emotional support, to people with dental problems.
